We’re looking for a Project Manager with significant experience of stakeholder management and major infrastructure to lead for the National Trust’s work in response to Phase 1 of High Speed 2. As Project Manager you will lead on managing the significant risks and opportunities from the delivery of HS2 where it affects National Trust interests in the Aylesbury Vale and The Chilterns. You will identify the most effective ways to engage, influence key stakeholders and ensure impacts from construction are minimised.
Fixed term contract until 28 February 2025.
22.5 hours per week.
Salary: £26,044 (£43,407 full time equivalent)
What it's like to work hereYou'll be based within our national Planning and Major Infrastructure Team, reporting to a Senior National Consultant. You will work closely with a variety of regional and property teams across the Aylesbury Vale and Chilterns area to achieve the project goals.
With hybrid working, your time will be a combination of working from National Trust places, being out and about on site and working from home. You'll have a dynamic working week and will need to travel throughout the area for meetings.
What you'll be doingWorking closely with property staff and subject matter experts, you’ll ensure developer commitments are adhered to, carefully managing impacts on the National Trust and identifying opportunities to deliver strategic objectives.
You’ll Leading on internal and external stakeholder communications in relation to HS2 Phase 1.
You’ll be supporting and managing relationships and negotiation with HS2, their contractors and other key stakeholders to maximise the Trust's influence and harness opportunities.
You’ll represent the Trust’s interests in negotiations and design development.
You’ll conduct the project in accordance with the NT Project Management Framework, including identifying and sharing lessons for the benefit of the organisation.

- Experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/programmes
- Experience of major infrastructure projects, working with tier 1 contractors and managing the risks and opportunities of the construction stage.
- Experience of managing complex and difficult external stakeholder relationships
- A recognised project (AMP PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification
- Evidence of ongoing CPD in your career to date
- Excellent problem solving and influencing skills, able to confidently work with senior leaders
