Job description
The Project Manager will support the Managing Director to deliver the requirements of the EMAP Portfolio and be responsible for managing and delivering specific projects. The post holder will be responsible for negotiating with stakeholders and motivating teams to develop project plans with clear outcomes. Delivery will be identified by milestones and achievement will be demonstrated through agreed KPI measures, this will involve analysing and presenting complex information, often to large groups. The Project Manager will work closely with the SROs/Clinical Leads and will be responsible for co-ordinating and monitoring projects and escalating risks/issues. The Project Manager will need the ability to work flexibly to influence and persuade a range of individuals and large groups to create strong and meaningful relationships in order to manage issues/risks, conflicts, priorities, dependencies and communication to deliver the overall programme/project.
The role is for a fixed term that ends on 31 March 2026. It is for 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working will be considered, as will job shares.
If you are already working for one of the eight acute hospitals that is a member of EMAP, a secondment will be considered. The majority of the role is office based. There may be an occasional requirement to travel across the east midlands to support a workshop / event. This will happen 2-3 times a year.
Start Date after 1st April 2024
On a day to day basis the Project Manager will report to the relevant SRO / Clinical Lead, and be managed by the EMAP Managing Director.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and delivery of programme/project plans with agreed milestones and outcome KPI measures to achieve sustainable service improvement in line with EMAP’s annual plans and strategic plans. Organise and administer associated meetings, keeping up-to-date action logs are all part of the day to day duties.
About EMAP
The East Midlands Acute Provider (EMAP) Network is a group of the eight acute (hospital) providers across the East Midlands who have come together to maximise the opportunity afforded through collaboration. We have been working together as a collaborative since 2021 and while each NHS Trust has its own unique challenges, we also share a common goal which is to make things better for our population. We work together when it is beneficial to do so at scale.
Since 2021, EMAP has matured and continues to develop. It is now governed through a joint memorandum of understanding, led by the Chief Executives of the acute hospitals. EMAP’s remit considers both specialised and district general hospital services with a focus on short term delivery whilst aligning for long term strategic benefits.
Responsible for developing services in line with National/Local Policies and Best Practice guidance. Through the effective co-ordination of the programme/project and their dependencies/interfaces, analysing any conflicts between programmes/projects and make recommendations on corrective action to resolve these, often through formal presentations at EMAP Executive level meetings. This can involve conveying contentious information, negotiating agreements to enable on-going progress and persuading teams to act on recommendations.
Responsible for motivating delivery teams and driving the projects, to develop and improve services, by delivering key milestones within agreed timescales and for the overall delivery of the programme/project, demonstrating achievement of outcomes/ business change in accordance with the programme plan and governance arrangements.
Promote collaborative working and co-ordinate stakeholder contributions to the programme/projects. Responsible for communicating the importance of the programmes/projects to deliver strategic objectives and able to negotiate with senior leaders to achieve agreed outcomes at pace. Highlight interdependencies across the programmes/projects, analyse the impact and communicate through formal presentations complex and sensitive performance information to large groups including Programme Boards, EMAP Executives and individual Trust Senior Leader Meetings such as a Trust Management Groups. Required to have regular contact with all stakeholders, including NHSE, East Midlands Clinical networks, the five east Midlands ICBs, provide concise highlight reports and formally present as required.
Manage the processes to identify risks/issues and, once identified, analyse to develop risks/issues logs demonstrating the actions being taken to mitigate and managed effectively.
Manage changes to the overall plan and associated policies by implementing the formal change control process. Initiate discussions to agree additional actions and/or other management interventions wherever gaps in delivery of the programme/projects are identified or issues arise.
