Project Officer
Location: The designated office base is Abbey House, Abingdon. The councils operate in a truly flexible, and hybrid way where the focus is on outcomes not where you work.
Salary and grade: £33,833 per year, Grade 5
Duration of role: Fixed term contract for six months
Hours per week: 37 hours per week
Closing Date: 16 April 2024
About the role and what we’re looking for
Job purpose
To work alongside Technical Services Project Manager and Parks team leader to help deliver the actions arising from the ground’s maintenance audit and other projects. The role will take some of the tasks currently carried out by the Technical Services Project Manager and the Parks team leader.
The role will help to develop service monitoring data, compile and check inventories and condition surveys of new and existing equipment and machines. It will also have some involvement with fleet management, ground maintenance task management and the implementation of new systems.
Main duties and responsibilities
• able to demonstrate good skills in managing different projects.
• developing a means of measuring quality of service and publishing
• developing written procedures and processes
• ensuring all consumables, equipment, tools, and machinery are accounted for and condition is recorded and training in place.
• procuring and managing fleet of GM vehicles and the transition to electric vehicles
• introducing new task management system on council system (Concerto)
• developing tools to measure cost of service provision and cost of carrying work out for others.
• The duties may vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or the level of responsibility and the post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.
About you
Your essential skills, knowledge, and experience
• At least two years’ knowledge of developing and implementing office procedures.
• Good knowledge of IT systems
• Being methodical and organised
• Using initiative and being pro-active
• Persistent in pursuing positive solutions.
• Good team working skills
• Good knowledge of health and safety requirements
• Full driving license and access to car
Your essential qualifications
• Degree qualification or equivalent
If you have the following experience or qualifications – it’s a bonus
• Understand and experience of council policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance service provision
• Specialist databases – Concerto and GiS mapping
