Probably not what you think. We collaborate with passionate people in inspiring places and have the opportunity to make a difference every day. We have big ambitions, value creativity and diversity and want to work together in new, dynamic, and innovative ways.

You will be part of the North East Urban team which covers urban activity across the whole region with focus in our urban priority locations of Durham, Gateshead, and Middlesbrough. This will be a hybrid role balancing office and home working with site visits. You'll occasionally need to work evenings and be happy to travel. Your time and expenses would be reimbursed in-line with National Trust policies.

What you'll be doing

You'll be a key team member supporting the development and delivery of the North East Urban plan. Our work is guided by partnership and working beyond National Trust property boundaries, where we are trying out new ways to help the National Trust and partners evolve in response to new challenges and opportunities in urban areas.

In practice, this means working with colleagues internally across the organisation as well as external stakeholders, to ensure we have excellent systems and oversight in place to manage this complex programme. This will be a varied and vital supporting role and no one day will look the same.

Who we're looking for We would love to hear from you if you have:
  • a methodical and solution-focused approach, with an ability to prioritise effectively and a good eye for detail and quality.
  • a good understanding of programme and/or project management principles and practice, including project and/or programme setup, benefits management, and evaluation.
  • a track record in creating and/or applying appropriate tools to ensure smooth running of projects and/or programmes, including supporting Board meetings, scheduling, and financial planning.
  • an ability to work flexibly and collaboratively, building and maintaining relationships, with effective communication and influencing skills.
  • an interest in presenting information clearly and in an interesting way, with skills in desk-based research, analysis, reporting and presentations.
  • knowledge and experience of internal and external communications, leading the delivery of a communications plan, co-ordinating and managing communications activity with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • an aptitude for working across a number of teams and proactively sharing ideas and learnings.

Diversifying our audiences and workforce is important to us. If you’re excited about this role but you don’t meet every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway if you have other experience and skills which are transferrable.
