This pivotal role involves overseeing the financial management of the Property department software, serving as the primary financial liaison for the Property Director. What will the Property Accountant role involve?
Monthly reporting:
- Perform month end bank reconciliations in the property software;
- Run the month end reports in the property software, post the transaction batches into the finance system and reconcile;
- Calculate and post rent, service charge and utility income accruals;
- Reconcile the property bank account.
Lease amendments / Management of Property Database:
- Work closely with the property surveyors to ensure all lease amendments, lease expiries and new leases are processed;
- Perform all required manual adjustments to rent and service charge demands in the instance of lease expiries and new leases;
- Update rating authorities, utility providers and insurers for new lettings and vacancies;
- Answer tenant queries.
Raising invoices:
- Raise quarterly and monthly rent invoices to tenants;
- Raise service charge invoices to tenants;
- Raising ad hoc invoices as appropriate;
- Raise tenant recharges, including utilities and property insurance, ensuring costs are properly recovered.
Lease amendments / Management of Property Database:
- Work closely with the property surveyors to ensure all lease amendments, lease expiries and new leases are processed;
- Perform all required manual adjustments to rent and service charge demands in the instance of lease expiries and new leases;
- Update rating authorities, utility providers and insurers for new lettings and vacancies;
- Answer tenant queries.
Management Accounts Support:
- Work closely with the Management Accountant, posting journals, performing balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis.
Council Tax:
- To ensure that Purchase Orders are raised for Council Tax invoices;
- Reconciliation of Vendor Accounts for various Councils;
- Processing of Council Tax Invoice;
- Working together with the Rating Consultants and Estate Managers to ensure that Vacant Property Rates are up to date in the ledger.
Suitable Candidate for the Property Accountant vacancy:
- Someone with experience as a property/service charge accountant or having worked in the property, housing or Estates Management industry or similar;
- Confident dealing with landlords/tenant queries;
- Comfortable working full time in the office.
