Team Educate is proud to represent a Special School in the Coventry area who are actively recruiting committed and compassionate Teaching Assistants who have the skills, knowledge and confidence to facilitate Mental Health Interventions for pupils with Autism, Anxiety and/or Trauma-backgrounds. This is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday. Part-time hours would also be considered for the right candidate.
The role of Mental Health Intervention Teaching Assistant will involve working with secondary aged pupils who have additional learning needs relating to their social, emotional and Mental Health, in addition to supporting pupils within their regular lessons and activities. The successful candidate will facilitate structured intervention for pupils centred on the topic of Mental Health, as well as the core skills in English and Maths. This will sometimes involve working alongside pupils in a mentoring capacity within a normal classroom context, and will require a dynamic, thoughtful mentor who is able top build strong relationships and build rapport with young learners. The majority of pupils you will be working with will have EHCPs.

Responsibilities of Mental Health Intervention Teaching Assistant:
- Provide support and assistance to individuals with special educational needs in order to promote academic and social development.
- Use your skillset to communicate with learners and support them in their studies to foster engagement in the classroom.
- Assist in the implementation of IEPs and EHCPs.
- Collaborate with specialist teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide assistance with emotional wellbeing and behavioural needs.
Mental Health Intervention Teaching Assistants will require:
- A degree in Psychology, or related field.
- Previous experience of working with children or young adults in a Mental Health/wellbeing focused setting.
- An Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or a willingness to process a new one.
- Experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs (SEN), specifically SEMH, ASC, ADHD or Attachment Disorder.
- Patience, empathy, and compassion, with a drive to support pupils' emotional and academic progress.
