The British Library's Public Lending Right Team is responsible for ensuring the effective dissemination of c£6.3 million (UK) and c 220,000 (ROI) in payments to registered authors, illustrators and other rights holders in remuneration for the loan of their books through public libraries.
This new role will suit a highly experienced, enthusiastic and driven individual who will take ownership of the operational management of the Scheme's statutory functions, ensuring delivery of UK and Irish PLR services in accord with legislative and contractual defined timescales and obligations. With a Project Management Foundation qualification and/or a proven record of delivering improved and more efficient operations, you will lead the modernisation of the UK PLR service to bring in innovative solutions to ensure effective transition to moving to full data collection.
You will also have excellent leadership, management, influencing and communication skills given the high-profile nature of the role and the diverse range of both internal and external contacts, in particular, DCMS, Representative Organisations, Key stakeholder groups and Library On. The ability to develop and motivate a team engaged in significant processing and technical activities is essential. As well as an innovative and proactive approach to exploiting change opportunities and promoting best practice.
