We’re looking for an experienced Public Relations Officer to join our close-knit Marketing and Communications team to promote and develop the Hospice’s relationship and reputation with the media and wider community.
The Role
You’ll be using your experience and expertise to promote the work of the hospice through storytelling and compelling content and you’ll be challenged, inspired and empowered to help us achieve our purpose and to play your part in making a difference.
- Developing and nurturing relationships with the media - print and broadcast
- Identifying potential media stories, organising photo opportunities, drafting press releases
- Proactively seeking opportunities for the Hospice and its representatives to appear in the media
- Interviewing a wide range of people including staff, volunteers, patients and their families and supporters to write engaging case studies and news stories
- Writing content for the website and other Hospice materials
- Building relationships with staff and volunteers to develop opportunities for expert comment

What we need from you...
- Hold a degree journalism/communications degree or similar, or have an equivalent level of experience
- Extensive experience of working with the media and gaining national coverage
- Experience in writing creative and engaging copy for a variety of audiences
- Confident in interviewing various stakeholders to gather information and draw out interesting and engaging stories
- Experience of writing for a variety of medium including website, award entries, case studies, expert comment blogs etc.
