Mellcrest are a growing family run company in Frogmore. We are looking for a dedicated, organised and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Commercial Director you are responsible for the ongoing management of purchasing strategy and for ensuring optimal supplier performance. The sourcing, managing and development of our existing and new products is paramount to the growth of the company. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams whilst making strategic decisions and implement best practice within our procurement function. Title:Purchasing Manager
Position: Full time, Based in offices in Frogmore
Reports to: Commercial Director
Salary range: GBP35K - GBP40K
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure the purchasing function is operating in line with the objectives of the business to add value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings
- Lead and manage a small team to deliver the appropriate support to the business to ensure corporate and business objectives are met
- Review and seek continuous improvement opportunities for the development of purchasing strategies.
- Looking into costs, inventory levels, lead times and continuity of supply and quality management.
- Build strong business relationships with UK, EU and International suppliers to maximise supply chain effectiveness.
- Collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and address supply challenges, mitigating supply risk to the business
- Develop an overall supplier base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage
- Provide purchasing support for new product development initiatives
- Seek opportunities to improve customer and supplier satisfaction levels.
- Carry out regular performance review meetings with suppliers & internal customers
Skills:
- Experience of working in a purchasing environment
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Highly organised, methodical with an eye for detail through detailed analysis of information
- The ability to collaborate and influence across all levels
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
