Grafton are recruiting on behalf of a expanding manufacturing and distribution company in the York area to appoint a Purchasing Manager with strong materials management and inventory planning experience.
This newly created role will be responsible for ensuring optimised material and stock availability, managing and expediting finished product coming in to the UK from the Far East and Europe, and identifying and implementing improvements in the process. Initial concentration will be on inventory based activities, however the role will move to include sourcing and new product negotiation as soon as appropriate. As such, the position offers a great opportunity for a driven and commercially astute individual to broaden their supply chain experience. You will also be able to build and mold processes for the function.
You will build strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on ensuring effective material availability and optimised inventory levels.
Ideal candidate:
- Experience of materials management and expediting
- Experience in procuring goods from Europe & Asia
- Data analysis & reporting skills
- Previous background in a fast paced manufacturing or wholesale environment
- Managing high SKU volumes
- Experience in negotiating with suppliers
Responsibilities/requirements
- Optimising stock availability and reducing supply chain costs
- Monitoring of material quality and delivery performance of suppliers
- Management of the supply chain, looking to minimise any risks
- Negotiating price and terms with suppliers
