- To manage the Quality Assurance Department and build a strong team.
- Action out of specification microbiological, raw material and process issues, to reach a satisfactory conclusion
- Train and develop QA auditors to enable them to complete a full factory audit
- Develop the auditing system within the factory
- QA audit team to audit critical paperwork highlight errors and omissions raise with QA Manager and formulate a resolution
- Play an active role in the continued development of the HACCP system on-site
- Monitor Pest Control contracts, ensuring required actions are completed on a timely basis.
- Establish a calibration schedule for all measuring equipment, and allocate responsibilities for inspections /calibration.
- Develop a robust positive release system for all high-risk products, ensuring all new raw materials are assessed against preset criteria
- Monitor spending on microbiological and nutritional items – ensure to within budget on a monthly basis.
- Achieve 30 % of time spent on the factory floor – training, Resolving issues, and challenging the norm.
- Complete auditing of raw material suppliers as required.
- Monitor the performance of raw material suppliers in terms of Technical performance, ensure QA Department completes checks as per schedules and associated documentation is completed

- Experience in a similar role in chilled multi component food manufacture.
- Experience in dealing with the major multiple retailers and implementation of their Technical standards / COP’s.
- Experience of external customer audits and BRC
- Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques
- HND / Degree in a Food Science or related discipline / or equivalent experience in the industry.
- A formal up to date qualification in HACCP (minimum level 3).
- Proven skills in managing teams to achieve results
- Strong influencing skills and positive attitude to bring the teams along and drive positive engagement
- Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages
- A need to be flexible, working in a 24/7 manufacturing facility
