The role involves overseeing a diverse client portfolio and spearheading the provision of bespoke accounting and tax planning services. Cultivating strong client relationships is essential for successfully executing projects and fostering team development. The focus is on delivering customized solutions to key clients, with a particular emphasis on the Agriculture and Property sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Delivering exceptional service to clients across various areas in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Addressing client queries promptly, including those from third parties like HMRC.
- Advancing personal expertise and role progression, as well as that of team members, by undertaking more advanced tasks from partners and delegating routine tasks accordingly. This contributes to cost-effectiveness and enhances the team's training and interest levels.
- Developing a deep understanding of clients and their businesses to serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day matters.
- Reviewing accounts and tax returns prepared by junior staff, covering both corporate and unincorporated clients.
- Contributing to departmental management by planning and executing strategies to meet objectives. This includes conducting staff appraisals, monitoring progress, effectively delegating tasks, leveraging existing team skills and knowledge, and seeking additional expertise as needed.
- Providing comprehensive feedback, including constructive criticism and training, through completion of staff appraisal forms.
- Identifying potential business and tax planning opportunities, VAT and NIC issues, and business planning considerations during review processes. Bringing these to the attention of partners or clients as appropriate and preparing necessary reports and computations while collaborating with other professional advisers as necessary.
- Supporting partners in specific assignments such as business planning, advisory services, and tax matters.
- Assisting partners in managing work in progress (WIP) within the department by advancing work swiftly to completion or billing points and liaising with partners regarding WIP and billing needs.
- Monitoring progress against deadlines and ensuring timely completion of tasks such as company reporting, P11Ds, and tax returns.
- Planning and executing work efficiently, timely, and cost-effectively by collaborating with partners and supervising staff.
