Qualified Hgv Mechanic

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified HGV Mechanic for Tameside Council. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Tameside Council are looking for a Qualified HVG Mechanic to be based at Tame Street in Stalybridge and talented HGV vehicle mechanic with the drive to keep our Transport Fleet on the move.

What are your responsibilities?

• This is an opportunity to utilise, and further develop your existing skills carrying out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our large fleet of HGV’s, light vehicles, plant and specialist equipment.
• You will be joining a team of vehicle/plant fitters and have a manager who is supportive and keen to facilitate your development.
• You should be organised, have good written and oral communication skills, be customer focused, hold a current driving licence (LGV Category C desirable) and trained to NVQ Level 3/City &Guilds (or equivalent) in a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair discipline.

What skills do you Need?

• Must have previous experience as a Qualified HGV Mechanic.
• Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public / clients, and other members of staff including managers.
• Full UK Driving Licence, (LGV Category C desirable).
• NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds equivalent in a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Repair qualification.
• Must be physically fit and healthy, as you be required to lift heavy items
