Reed Food and FMCG have been briefed to recruit for a well-regarded business, for QA Lab Technician, to join the team supporting the testing and inspection of quality standards.

Job Objective: The Quality Assurance laboratory technicians are responsible for the testing and inspection of all company product liquids in such a way as to assure product quality in compliance with company standards.

Role Duties and Responsibilities

• Analysis and monitoring of raw materials and all processes associated with the production of liquids.
• Microbiological analysis of finished product and plant hygiene.
• Analytical testing of effluent aqueous stages: - reporting these results externally and informing the chief engineer of the processes working parameters.
• Interpretation of mycotoxin levels in juice using HPLC.
• Clerical responsibilities regarding the monitoring of laboratory process records, calibration, plant monitoring and analytical data in compliance with laboratory accreditation status.
• Maintaining a clean working environment within the laboratory to a high hygiene standard.
• Compliance with company health & safety policy.
• Interpretation of analytical data of finished product, to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Preparation and standardisation of reagents and media used within company analytical areas.
• Advisory contact with reference to daily quality issues on site.
• Communication of results to internal customers, and to external customers in the form of certificates of quality.
• Cover for other QC Lab Technicians if required.
• Assist with training of new and existing procedures and documentation.
• Any other reasonable duties deemed necessary by management.

Shared Responsibilities

• To comply with the training, information and instruction, including the findings of any risk assessments.

• To carry out work safely and without undue risk to self, colleagues and others who may be affected by actions, and not intentionally interfere, misuse or ignore arrangements, controls and items provided for health and safety purposes.
• To check equipment before using it, and not to use equipment knowingly to be faulty.
• To follow training received when using issued work items.
• To comply with the arrangements for emergencies and fire as instructed and all safety related advice and guidance.
• To use any personal protective equipment provided when required.
• To co-operate with management, colleagues, safety representatives and advisor promoting safe working practices.
• To keep work areas tidy and clear of hazards.
• To participate in the departments training matrix as requested.
• To provide cover when necessary within the quality control laboratory.
