L3Harris in Crawley specialise in technology and systems to enable quality pilot training from distance learning systems applications and maintenance solutions to training devices and full flight simulators, our technology covers the complete training spectrum.

L3Harris are seeking industrial placements who will be responsible for providing support to the global L3Harris business by joining the Quality team, in a challenging fast-paced environment.  The Quality team collaborates with every aspect of the business, in order to create solutions and respond to customer needs. Our Quality Engineering Industrial Placement will gain insight and exposure to all aspects of our quality activities including capturing and analysing defects, rework and rejects, monitoring manufacturing processes, internal/supplier quality monitoring and improving, non-conformance handling, ensuring the safety of the delivered and built products, performing internal audits and supporting external audits, CoPQ reduction, 8D, RCA, to name but a few of the key functions with whom interactions occur on a daily basis. 

In addition to the day-to-day activities, the Quality Engineering Industrial Placement will participate in internal strategic initiatives to drive change and continuous improvement.  Other opportunities will be made available to increase their organizational awareness with interaction across the wider L3H business. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who really want to make the most of a placement year working in a complex, international and fast paced environment, pushing the boundaries of what can be learnt and experienced during a year’s placement.

What the role will involve

• An aptitude for problem-solving and use of Quality tools to find root causes and provide solutions and improvements
• Highly analytical - able to organise and interpret data quickly and effectively and some experience of data analysis.
• The understanding of engineering drawings and how they can be read to identify critical information and used for checking conformity of parts to the design.
• Able to follow and generate process flow charts and process diagrams.
• Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines, managing multiple activities at once.
• The ability to excel in fast paced deadline-oriented environment with high pressure situations, putting in the necessary work to complete the job

What you’ll bring

• Must be currently studying for a degree in subjects such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Quality Management, Project Management
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Excel
• Effective time management skills
