Our client, a family-owned food business, is looking for a Quality Manager for their site based in Northamptonshire. The successful candidate will work closely with the Technical Manager and team to ensure all products manufactured on site are safe, legal, authentic and fulfil quality expectations of customers and consumers.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:
• Assisting the factory in the preparation and delivery of successful Third-party audits (BRCGS, RT, Organic, BMPA), resolving any issues identified
• Maintaining high level site certifications (BRC/RT / Organic/ BMPA) and any new standards the site will work towards
• Ensuring the Quality Management System is fully implemented within the factory
• Continuously improving factory standards and finished product quality
• Investigating and managing the root causes of complaints to reduce them in line with KPIs
• Collaboratively working to continually raise site standards to enable retail ready production
• Improving and updating procedures ensuring new legislation, BRCGS requirements and codes of practice are appropriately implemented
• Monitoring and improving factory standards with regards to GMP and Hygiene
• Championing the Food Safety Culture and a Quality Focus in the factory
• Deputising for the Site Technical Manager
• Improving site hygiene through training, cleaning method challenges, post clean inspections and sign offs
• Creation, management, and maintenance of Factory Quality Attribute Sheets
• Developing a HACCP system with clearly defined quality controls for all areas
• Contributing to supplier review and approval through monitoring of raw material quality, raising rejections and non-conformances as required
• Ensuring QAs and QCs are effective within their areas, developing their competencies
• Factory-based training and development to operational staff on quality and food safety best practice
Essential / Desirable skills include:
• Relevant qualifications and experience in managing quality within Food Manufacturing for retail and / or foodservice
• Experience of high-risk or chilled environments, however other food manufacturing backgrounds may be considered
• Significant involvement in site Food Safety Audits including BRC, SALSA or Customer audits
• Ability to analyse data and to drive quality improvements
• Ideally be on a development path to ultimately become a Technical Manager
• Ability to deal with challenges and influence behaviours in a fast-paced environment
• A specific desire to achieve positive change in all circumstances
• A deputy to the Technical Manager
• Team management or supervisory experience

The working hours are 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm, with some flexibility to meet the needs of the business The salary for the role is circa £40k per annum, negotiable dependent on experience.
