Role Definition
Primary responsibility is to provide support for quality initiatives in facility operations, technology. Position will ensure conformity to global quality processes defined in the Caterpillar Quality Management System (QMS), day to day management of quality team, and ensure team members are appropriately trained and competent.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for overseeing the execution of processes, plans and tools that support global quality systems or related processes i.e., New Product Introduction, Rapid Improvement Workshops, All Quality Events, Partners In Quality, Cost of Poor Quality, APQP, PPAP, Quality Certifications, Value Stream Certification, etc.
Develop, implement, and monitor quality plans to ensure that the products meet Caterpillar quality standard and ensure compliance to ISO9000 internal certification requirements, accomplished by conducting and reporting internal audits.
Provide full support to New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) processes.
Ability to draw upon foundational product development skills such as conceptual design, development of product and/or process, data analysis & extraction, failure resolution & prevention, and requirements management is required; as well as, ever increasing skill in technical project management, development of product, internal and external requirements management, and cost-value management.
Assure the facility’s products meet Caterpillar specifications. Communicate and promote the quality philosophy and provide guidance to various quality areas such as manufacturing, torque support, gauge lab, heat treat and/or met lab personnel.
Provide quality measurement reports and make continuous improvements to the products and processes (i.e. be responsible for development and information collection for inspection reports and/or maintain and publish defect reports that are recorded and reported at all levels from start online to end customer.)
Receive customer feedback, discuss with responsible work centre for the improvement and provide feedback to the customer.
The position reports directly to a Quality Manager and is typically responsible for quality associated with a product line or value stream including auditing and certification. The position supervises or manages a work unit of hourly or salaried employees where planning, scheduling, training, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required, and is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates. They will engage with Component Groups, Global Quality resources and Facility Management.
Responsible for the training, motivation, and development of employees. This position instructs personnel on how to determine the quality of work with the aids of inspection gauges and drawings.
Internal customers include employees from two or more groups in a division and immediate supervisor. The position's primary customers are internal. The position is challenged to identify problems quickly and correctly.
Following departmental guidelines or applying a solution that worked in the past. The incumbent is free to determine the best way to complete job assignments to achieve desired results.
Quality Management including Quality Gate Identification and Location. Creation and Validation of Checklists and the validation of Quality personnel.

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Quality experience is essential.
Operations experience and have a mechanical aptitude.
Must have a thorough knowledge of CPS processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment, and processes plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives.
Experience in strategic planning and supervisory experience is desirable.
Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship and develop others inside and outside the department.
Versatile whilst working off own initiative and being pro-active.
Must be proficient with all Microsoft office products.
Can learn in depth process/jobs within a short period of time.
Good technical comprehension.
Job Title: Quality Supervisor
Salary: £38,500 - £46,000 depending on experience
