Quantity Surveyor – London
J. Murphy & Sons ltd are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to drive the commercial objectives on the Thames Water Framework. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and self-sufficient Quantity Surveyor with knowledge of NEC contracts and experience drafting subcontract orders and administering the contract through to final account.

What you will be doing
- Pricing and administration under the Main Contract and Subcontracts.
- Assist in management of subcontract payment notices in accordance with statutory and company requirements.
- Assistance in preparation of periodic cost/value reconciliation reports.
- Identifying risks and opportunities in the administration of commercial processes upstream and downstream.
- Assist in monitoring of planned vs actual cost across disciplines (Labour, Plant, Material, and Subcontract).
- Timely issue of contractual notices and quotations under the project.
- Experience in Procurement and Tendering required.

- Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
Who we’re looking for
- Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying and desire to work towards Chartership.
- Ability to use own initiative where necessary knowing where to ask if there are circumstances that require input from Senior Management.
- Thorough understanding of good commercial working principles.
- Significant experience working across civils or infrastructure projects for a contractor.
- NEC option A, C or E contract knowledge and procurement/supply chain.
- Ability to measure value adding in planned vs actual estimating and cost.
- Understanding of commercial gateway process around increasing financial limits and relevant instructions to subcontractors.
About the Project
- Thames Water AMP7 is a 4-year long framework plus 5 year extension into AMP8.
- Murphy is a Primary Contractor in Lot 5 North London Infrastructure, value £200m (Inside the M25 – North of the River Thames)
- The framework will consist of the delivery of ECI, detailed design, build, commissioning and handover of water and wastewater infrastructure schemes
- Include individual projects up to £30m with a focus on works working within the public domain and on road carriageways.

- Featuring repairs and build of new assets with a bias towards Clean Water networks with a few waste projects also on the books.
