Our Client is an Essex based construction company who are committed to being the premier builder in the local community. They are now looking to add a Quantity Surveyor to their local, growing company.
Quantity Surveyor
£40k - £60k | Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30pm | 20 days holiday + Bank Holidays and Xmas shutdown | Potential for occasional flexible hours | Construction | Local Builders | Project Estimating | Quantity Surveyor | Team Player | Growing, local business |
The Quantity Surveyor will take lead on concept to completion cost management, including but not limited to - cost planning, variations, tender analysis, contract administration, cost reporting, change management, employers agent and final accounts.
Duties (include but are not limited to):
- Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
- Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
- Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
- Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
- Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
- Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Traveling from the office to various sites as required.
Person Specification:
- Ideally 3+ years in a QS role, but our client is open to different experience levels
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or similar.
- Construction estimating or finance experience is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Sound knowledge of the local construction market.
- Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize, plan, and strategize.
- A valid driver's license.
- Experience estimating work value from site visits (new build)
- Accurate and thorough
- Good attention to detail
- Team Player
- Relaxed office atmosphere - as long as the work is done
