Research Technical Lead - Military Simulation Training
Up to £75,000 (DOE) + bonus & benefits

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead and/or Technical Researcher with experience designing and modelling military simulation programmes.
This is a newly created role to work with a market leading software & technology specialist providing simulation training and situation awareness programmes for front line military personnel.
It's a highly rewarding role working with a talented team and making a contribution to the safety and welfare of front line personnel.
The simulation programmes cover land, sea and air and use a range of simulation architecture and modelling tools. As a Technical Lead you will play an important role in the delivery of research and training and the evolution of products and tools.
The overall goal is to improve training in situation awareness using the latest tools and techniques, keeping the company at the forefront of knowledge and insight and driving best practice through the training and delivery teams.
Duties & Scope
- Conduct and drive defence research and experimentation tasks, defining requirements and shaping future activities.
- Undertake studies in order to de-risk the role of future technology and capability in defence modelling and simulation.
- Deliver customer presentations and written technical reports to scientific and military audiences, explaining complex issues in an easy-to-understand way.
- Plan, organise and deliver research trials and experiments, in order to understand the utility of new technologies or capabilities.
- Undertaking horizon scanning and technology watch studies.
- Gain an understanding of, manage and capture customer research and simulation requirements.
- Scope, build and deliver prototypes used in research and simulation.
You will need a broad range of training and simulation experience including;
- Simulation architectures (DIS/HLA)
- Simulation of military platforms (air / land / maritime)
- Test and Evaluation
- Requirements development
- Experimentation
- Environmental and physical modelling
- Simulation Architectures (including Agent Based/COTS architectures)
- Technology futures
- Horizon scanning
You should hold a relevant academic qualification i.e. science degree and are currently working within the defence or military domains in a similar capacity. Highly desirable is experience of systems engineering.
The role is only available to UK citizens and/or British passport holders eligible for Security Clearance.
