Reactor Plant Performance Analysts
Derby, Warrington or Manchester/UK based – Hybrid
Salary £40,000 - £52,000

We are now recruiting Reactor Plant Performance Analysts to be involved in delivering an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
What we're looking for
There are multiple opportunities open for experienced Reactor Plant Performance Analysts/engineers including technical and group lead roles.
Performance analysts are responsible for technical and programme delivery of work packages which could include analysis of normal operation and faulted plant conditions, development of analysis models, methods and tools and experimental validation and benchmarking.
Roles are available across all areas of Plant Performance which includes the following thermal hydraulic analysis methods Reactor Plant Systems Analysis (RELAP, FLOMASTER), Core Sub-channel Analysis (VIPRE, CTF), Containment Analysis (GOTHIC) and Severe Accident Analysis (MAAP, PACE), Computations Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS, STAR-CCM).

Key selection criteria for this role are:
We would like you to have experience or expertise in several of the following areas, but we do not expect you to possess all of them:
Thermal hydraulics (fluids and thermal) analysis:
• Nuclear thermal hydraulics analysis using industry standard tools such as RELAP, VIPRE, CTF, GOTHIC, or MAAP.
• Principles and methodologies applied in analysis of nuclear reactors in normal operation and faulted conditions.
• Role of thermal hydraulics analysis in reactor design substantiation and safety case
Development of analysis methods, models and tools:
• Development of thermal hydraulics analysis models for industry standard tools such as RELAP, VIPRE, CTF, GOTHIC, or MAAP.
• Establishing fault analysis methodologies based on RGP which integrate multiple technical disciplines such as core physics, thermal hydraulics and fuel performance.
• Coupling of thermal hydraulics codes with other analysis methods and tools.
• Development of pre and post processing software tools in Python.
• Familiarity with software development processes and quality assurance arrangements.
Quality assurance of analysis codes and methods:
• Verification of analysis models and software including analytical benchmarking and automated testing.
• Validation of analytical models against experimental test data.
• Quantification of analysis uncertainties including statistical methods and tool development.
• Definition of requirements for and support to the design of thermal hydraulic test rigs.
Nuclear industry domain knowledge including:
• Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) design, plant and behaviour,
• Environmental, Safety, Security and Safeguarding (E3S) regulations and principals (including application of As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) and Best Available Technique (BAT) principals).

• Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
