If so, join St Giles Trust as ReBuild YouthProject Lead embedded within a prison-based St Giles Team at HMP Werrington, where you will support an innovative proposal designed to develop interventions promoting preventative approaches, utilising our highly regarded Peer Advice, and providing a gateway to mentoring programme.

About St Giles Trust

An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.

About this exciting opportunity

As a ReBuild YouthProject Lead you will lead by example and provide advice, guidance and support to team members and attached mentors in the form of regular supervision meetings and daily contact, plus plan and support the day-to-day workload for the team, escalating any issues to the Community Delivery Manager where appropriate and conduct annual performance reviews and ongoing one-to-ones throughout the year.

You will also be expected to assess the suitability of applicants to become Wellbeing peer supporters and to complete the Learning to Advise course and to prepare, plan, and deliver the Learning to Advise assured course itself to individuals in prison, ensuring the completion of all relevant paperwork in a timely manner. We will count on you to work with allocated learners to produce realistic assessment plans, provide one-to-one support to learners and monitor their progress towards timely completion and certification, as well as working in partnership with Big Dog Little Dog to design, adapt and deliver emotional resilience/wellbeing training sessions.

What we are looking for

  • Experience of working to targets and recording information and statistics to enable effective monitoring
  • Experience of managing a team, including carrying out supervisions, performance reviews and personal development plans
  • Experience of project management and setting up and operating monitoring systems
  • Level 3 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent teaching/assessor certification
  • Understanding of the issues faced by participants in accessing and sustaining training or employment
  • Demonstrable ability to support and motivate learners with multiple complex needs
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Successful candidates must undergo an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS check, on the basis that the post involves contact with vulnerable participants.

In return, you can expect a competitive salary, generous leave allowance, staff pension, flexible working, a mentoring programme, an advice and counselling service, clinical therapist sessions, life insurance (4 x annual salary), duvet days, season ticket loan, employee perks programme, eye care voucher and much more.

We are an equity and inclusion confident employer. We welcome all applications and we particularly encourage applications from people of the global majority (black, brown, multi- heritage ) and those who identify as disabled, neuroexpansive, neurodiverse, with any protected characteristics and/or social barriers or challenges. We value the empowering and informative impact that all lived experiences and diversity of thought can offer the organisation.
