Hours - 22.5 hours per week, over 3 days
- To undertake clerical, administrative and sales/hire procedures and services as laid down.
- To be competent with cash, cheque and credit card methods and the required changeover and end of day cashing up procedure.
- To provide customer service to clients and promote an ongoing high standard of customer care.
- To communicate with clients both personally and by telephone providing the fullest details of information as requested.
- To promote membership of the Y Club by demonstrating effective communication, selling techniques and to assist in showing future clients and members the full facilities.
- To liaise with the Reception Manager and his/her staff and all other departments within the Y Club and Castlefield Hotel on related matters.
- To assist in all operational aspects of the day to day running of the club
- To carry out all aspects of reception duties including the handling of fees, taking bookings and dealing with general enquiries.
- To carry out hourly cleaning checks in changing areas when required.
- To ensure a high level of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the club at all times.
- To administer First Aid assistance as and when required.
- To ensure that the highest standard of safety and security for all users and their property is maintained at all times.
- Induct and supervise work placement staff as and when required.
- Complete all areas of responsibility to required standards
- To ensure the safe use of all machinery relevant to duties.
- To comply with all aspects of Health and Safety as laid down in the Manchester YMCA Health and Safety Policy.
- Achieve all standards set at appraisal.
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Comply with all legislative and ‘custom and practice’ requirements
- Assist in marketing of the club in terms of sales and promotion drives.
- To carry out any other duties that are commensurate with the required skills of the post.
- Any other duties as required by the Y Club Manager.
Safeguarding
· To implement the YMCA Manchester safeguarding policy.
· To report any safeguarding concerns to your line manager, to follow reporting procedures as outlined in the YMCA Manchester safeguarding policy.

- To be personable, approachable and promote our reputation as Manchester’s friendliest health club.
- Maintain a high standard of personal presentation at all times including professional dress or uniform if provided.
Essential Requirements.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience of use of computers and till.
- The ability to work under pressure, especially at peak usage times.
- The ability to co-operate with colleagues to work as part of an effective team.
- A flexible approach to working practices, including shifts.
Desirable Requirements
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- Any sport/leisure/recreation based qualification of GCSE or NVQ Level 1 or above.
- Minimum one year’s experience of working in a leisure or sport based environment.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft applications including Word or Excel and Clubwise membership management system.
