Job description

Our client is a fully independent & well capitalized Challenger bank who offer an alternative ethos centred around positive social impact lending. Due to continued growth they have a brand-new role for an experienced Player/Manager with a background in Deposits/Liabilities. Particularly within the Charities/Not for Profit space.

As the: Regional Director - Deposits/Liabilitiesyou will lead and manage a team of Specialist and Deposit Relationship Managers (RM’s) and Deposit Desk officers. You will continually develop and iterate the funding strategy and delivery plan working in concert with the geographic RDs. You will act as rainmaker, delivering on your own target list of high value prospects, as well as providing hands on support to the RMs as they identify new prospects and originate new customer relationships. You will operate as Key Account Executive for the Bank’s largest liability balances.

The role will involve coaching others in relationship management methods as required from time to time, ensuring that they acquire, manage and maintain banking relationships in accordance with the Bank’s business plans. You will provide the bank with assurance that Conduct standards are being met and risks are being well managed.

As theRegional Director - Deposits/Liabilitiesyour responsibilities and duties will include:

o Ensure that good customer outcomes are continually sought by everyone in your line report.

o Manage a professional, customer focused team of liability focused RMs, providing leadership, coaching and advice to enhance the customer experience.

o Continually develop and iterate the funding strategy and delivery plan, working with the Geographic RDs and relevant liabilities product manager, to ensure the correct balance of ambition and realistic operational capability. Convert that plan into funding related volumetric and financial objectives for all RMs.

o Target, acquire, manage and maintain a small portfolio of key commercial banking relationships where required by the business plans / need.

o Work with the Liabilities programme manager and CCO to design and deliver the business changes necessary to create the new liabilities origination capability at pace, but ensuring the bank can progress in its development within its risk appetite parameters.

o Design and delivery of RM level volumetric and financial objectives aligned to the business plan sufficient to meet and ideally exceed planned Bank business performance. Monitor performance of on an ongoing basis and operate the performance management process for direct reports. Ensure all conduct standards are understood and met.

o Coach RMs to ensure they understand and can deliver against the Bank’s Relationship Management expectations, including strong product knowledge, anchoring their approach around identifying and meeting customer needs, and utilising current business process. Where those processes fall short of delivering good customer outcomes, raising suggested improvements via the most appropriate channel.

o Develop and enhance the skills of direct reports, including sector knowledge and impact assessment and be responsible for the allocation of objectives to them.

o Delivery of the sales management process and ensuring compliance with internal and external banking regulation in force at all times.

o Represent Commercial Banking at internal ExCo and Board meetings, as required

o Stakeholder management: support the Chief Commercial Officer on an ad hoc basis, as required.

o Management and identification of all relevant risk types and controls pertaining to acquiring and managing a portfolio of liabilities customers. Management of risk events to prevent reoccurrence, where applicable.

o Establish and enhance relationships with key sector organisations, professional intermediaries and key business leaders to enhance the Bank’s proposition and support the achievement of Bank objectives.
