Job description

As Regulatory & Compliance Advisor, you’ll support the Legal Team to consult the wider business in matters of regulatory compliance. You’ll enjoy incredible opportunities to liaise with world-leading Scientists and Engineers – both externally and internally.

Additionally, you’ll gain exposure to a diverse and exciting range of subject areas; including drone flight regulations, export to business insurance, Freedom of Information Act, and Human Tissue Act (to name a few).

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the completion of NPL’s Regulatory Compliance Register and, once complete, maintain and develop it as required by either changes in regulation and or NPL’s strategic and operational needs
  • Provide advice and support business Regulatory and Compliance processes
  • Support the creation and implementation of new and improved processes
  • Identify regulatory issues and work as a team to ensure regulatory compliance, as well as risk mitigation
  • Identify and raise issues relating to export control compliance, ensuring applications are made where necessary, and supporting those applications
  • Support NPL’s insurance renewal process, working as a team to liaise with Insurance Brokers to respond to- and rectify insurance-related issues
  • Develop knowledge associated with assigned areas of activity, and staying up-to-date with relevant regulatory developments and legislation
  • Develop and deliver skills workshops

Reporting to the Head of Legal, you’ll enjoy responsibility for taking reasonable duty of care for the Health & Safety of yourself, and of other persons, who may be affected by their acts or omissions at NPL. You’ll utilise your analytical and technical skills to contribute toward the design and implementation of Regulatory and Compliance processes which expand our capabilities across measurement accuracy and stability.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Proven experience in a Regulatory & Compliance role within the UK Research & Development sector (such as Pharma, Medical or Science)
  • Persuasive written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts in an accessible
  • Keen to throw yourself into a wide range of business areas, with the boldness to take initiative, influence others and make decisions.
