Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
We are excited to be recruiting to a new Project Manager role for our Drugs & Alcohol portfolio in the Department of Public Health. The role will involve working in partnership with the Greater Manchester Drug & Alcohol Commissioning Group and associated working groups.

The Department of Public Health are at the forefront of delivering the Manchester Population Health Plan which sets out the vision that by 2027 we will be living longer, healthier lives; and the Making Manchester Fairer Plan which is a city-wide action plan to address health inequalities across Manchester over the next 5 years to tackle social determinants of health (i.e. housing, employment, poverty, debt.)

We are looking for a candidate to lead and manage various drug & Alcohol work-streams. These may include work-streams that focus on: Young People, Criminal Justice, Alcohol, In-patient Detox and Residential Rehabilitation. The role will also involve coordinating performance monitoring information across drug & Alcohol services to progress activity and outcomes, and working collaboratively with service providers, colleagues, citizens, and other stakeholders on service development.

You will need to have an awareness and understanding of Drugs & Alcohol.

Public health is about working together with a range of partners through the development of strategies, policies, work programmes and commissioning of services to improve the health of the population of Manchester, protect them from threats to their health; prevent and mitigate risks to support better health outcomes; and create the conditions in society and the environment that lead to better health. This work is done using the best available evidence, data, and insight.

The Department works closely with the NHS as part of the Manchester Integrated Care Partnership.

The work of the Public Health Department is organised under three thematic areas, with core functions that support all themes:
  • Health Improvement and Wellbeing: this includes work to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals of all ages, create the conditions in communities that support good health and wellbeing, and to improve health equity.
  • Health Protection and Healthy Environments: this includes work to prevent and control infectious diseases, sexual health, emergency preparedness and response planning, addressing inequalities in health protection, environmental hazards, regulatory work.
  • Healthcare Public Health and Partnerships: this includes work to address broader determinants and complex barriers to health, population health strategic partnerships, health and care service inequalities, screening, and early detection.
  • Core functions: this includes knowledge and intelligence, contracting, project management and business support.
The role holder is based in the Healthcare Public Health and Partnerships Team and is line managed by the Commissioning Manager for Drugs & Alcohol.
