Do you want to work within a team that is passionate about making a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families?
Birmingham’s SEND and Inclusion services (part of the Children and Families Directorate) are growing as part of the council’s long-term commitment to children and young people to improve their lives and support their families. More than 150 permanent roles have been created and we are looking for outstanding people to join us and deliver meaningful impact in this priority area.
As the Relationship Manager for the SEND and Inclusion Team, you will report directly to the Director for SEND and Inclusion. You will be responsible for delivering, enhancing, leading and monitoring the processes that support excellent service delivery of the Directorate teams in Birmingham.
This is a high profile, challenging position. You will be responsible for ensuring the required support from central council teams is in place so that the directorate can plan and manage resources effectively. You will be accountable for:
- clear financial reporting to and from the directorate;
- managing HR matters (including recruitment);
- arrangements with the legal department;
- supporting communications from the directorate; links with procurement/commissioning;
- working effectively with the data team(s) across Birmingham.
You will line manage a small team of Relationship Officers who will support you in providing assurance to the Director and service leaders that the support provided by central council teams will enable them to deliver their strategic responsibilities effectively.
You will be an exceptional communicator, with meticulous attention to detail, and a relentless focus on supporting service improvement and quality. As a highly organised leader, you will be used to working to deadlines and be adept at managing a number of different priorities simultaneously. You will thrive in a role that requires you to work effectively with multiple stakeholders offering different services.
To be part of this dynamic team and to play your part in the improvements we are delivering for Birmingham families, please get in touch.
If you would like an informal conversation about this role, please contact Helen Ellis, Director for SEND and Inclusion (helen.Ellis@birmingham.gov.uk).
We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents the communities we serve. Our data tells us that for this level of role, ethnic minorities are underrepresented and therefore we will use positive action to support us to achieve diverse shortlists. This may mean that recruitment times are a little longer, but we think this is worth it to achieve our aim.
You must upload a Supporting Statement via the attachments part of your application. This is required for shortlisting; you need to describe how your experience and skills fit the essential criteria for the role as specified in the Person Specification. If you do not attach your Supporting Statement, your application will not be considered. Please do not attach CVs as we do not accept them.
