Job description

Relationship Manager | S2 | Corporate & Commercial Banking| Liverpool & Glasgow

Country: United Kingdom

Interested in part-time, job-share or flexible working ? We want to talk to you!

Join our community.

We are Commercial Direct, a highly engaged and energetic team providing centralised Relationship Management to a large portfolio of Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking clients. The role will be based in either our Liverpool or Glasgow office.

To meet the needs of our clients most effectively and efficiently we are split into five specialist teams, each interacting with our clients daily. Whilst these teams will see some Relationship Managers fulfilling more specialist roles than others, every single member of the team shares responsibility for every client in our portfolio. Each Relationship Manager is required to consider all five of the following priorities: delighting more clients, growing the business, improving the business, improving the risk profile, and developing & engaging our people.

You’ll help look after our large portfolio of CCB customers based across the UK, utilising our full range of digital tools alongside direct telephony & video channels.

The work you do will directly impact on these UK SMEs and your support can help businesses to succeed. You will own the full relationship with your customers and it’s therefore critical that you’re passionate, driven, and enthusiastic – you must be willing to take on a challenge and make a difference.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Becoming a fundamental part of a team delivering our digitally enhanced Relationship Management proposition to a large portfolio of UK SME clients
  • Helping us continue to understand our clients better; building insight through data and technology whilst maintaining a personalised approach, so we can deliver a client experience that’s second to none
  • Directly contacting clients to identify and win new opportunities to deepen relationships, especially with growing internationally active businesses
  • Potentially complete end-to-end lending applications to support clients’ requests for funding support, including the consolidation and analysis of financial accounts.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to increase the team’s productivity, maximise efficiencies
  • Embracing our proactive and inherently diligent risk culture; applying the highest standards to credit and conduct risk management, ensuring we keep the bank safe and treat all customers fairly
  • Contribute to our proactive and collaborative environment, taking an active role in building a positive, open, and inclusive culture

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in developing successful client relationships and growing the business sustainably
  • Experience in a client facing environment (B2B ideal)

It would also be nice for you to have.

  • Commercial growth, business development experience or Relationship Management background
  • Risk management experience (e.g. Credit Risk, AML/KYC etc.)
  • An entrepreneurial mind and awareness of key trends in the UK SME market and digital ecosystem; keen to help us optimise our model even further in the future
  • Genuine team spirit with an ability to adapt and collaborate in a constantly dynamic environment.

What else you need to know:

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and we recognise that many people benefit from flexible arrangements. To enable us to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop we understand the importance of having the right balance of spending time together in an office while maintaining flexibility.

By working this way, we can continue to create moments that matter for everyone. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and we’re happy to discuss specific requirements throughout the recruitment process.

Our preferred location for this role is Liverpool or Glasgow and current expectation is at least 2 days in the office every week.

If you’re interested in this role but with part time hours or a job-share we would still love to hear from you and discuss these.
