Job description

Salary: £23,893-£25,119 pro rata per annum

Grade: E

Contract: Relief
Vacancy Hours: Various

Location: Bilton House, Harrogate
Weekend Working: Yes

Do you want to make a difference?

We are seeking friendly, customer-focused people to join our
team based in Harrogate. As a Relief Ceremonies Registrar you will take part in the
delivery of marriage, civil partnership and other non-statutory ceremonies such
as baby naming and renewal of vows ceremonies.

The Registration Service undertakes the registration of births,
deaths, marriages and civil partnerships, as well as conducting marriage and civil
partnership ceremonies. Last year North Yorkshire delivered over 4500 weddings
and civil partnership ceremonies. The majority of these were conducted at one
of the many licenced ceremony venues across the county. Whilst many ceremonies
are still carried out in Registration Offices, licenced venues
account for the large majority of ceremonies.

Although you will be based in Harrogate you may be asked to
cover in other areas of the county. Your availability on weekdays and/or
weekends including Sundays and Bank Holidays will be crucial.

North Yorkshire Registration Service prides itself
on the quality of the ceremonies we provide and our excellent service to
customers, on what is for some, one of the most important days of their lives.

You must have experience of dealing with the general public,
preferably in a front line service, with good communication and organisational
skills and the ability to assist clients from all backgrounds in what can be
highly charged emotional situations.

Attention to detail, good public speaking skills and a smart
appearance are essential for this post. You should also have a high level of
commitment to delivering a quality service with excellent customer care. Previous registration experience would be an advantage but full
training will be given.

Therefore if you
are looking for a fun and interesting role and would enjoy making someone's day
special, this could be the opportunity for you!

This is a Relief post and therefore the pay scales are set
accordingly but the pay you receive will be pro rata. It is usual for the
service to be a lot busier in the summer months and for there to consequently
be less work through the quieter winter months.
