You will work alone to deliver the daily online content that our readers rely on to ensure they are kept abreast of what is happening in the markets but must also work with other editors and reporters within the group to co-ordinate coverage.
FOW prides itself on delivering exclusive content including news stories so the position would suit someone who is inquisitive and interested in delivering off-diary news.
You will also be expected to produce exclusive analytical content based on interviews with key industry figures.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- In terms of attributes, you have a passion for news and the ability to produce exclusive news stories and analysis pieces to a daily deadline.
- You demonstrate a clear understanding of the editorial process and be able to work quickly and effectively alone or with editorial colleagues in a pressured environment.
- You also show a willingness to be the public face of the derivatives coverage which will involve attending external events and meetings.
- You will be expected to build a network of professional contacts quickly so the position suits someone who is naturally outgoing and confident in a business environment.
- You have at least two years’ reporting experience and a working knowledge of the financial markets. An understanding of derivatives would be advantageous but, most importantly, the candidate must demonstrate a willingness to work hard and the ability to learn quickly.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Good communication skills – both verbal and written
- At least two years of news writing experience
- Understanding of online and print publishing formats and social media platforms
- Willingness to develop a network of contacts
- Detail-oriented, quick to learn and able to write to a high standard
- Willingness to work out of hours to meet deadlines, or to attend out-of-hours events and undertake occasional travel.
DESIRABLE
- Some experience building lasting relationships with key market stakeholders
- Experience working in a financial institution in a similar role
- Knowledge of financial markets especially derivatives
