The Smoking in Pregnancy Research Group in the School of Medicine are looking to appoint a Research Administrator to provide support across our research studies. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our research group and get involved with running major randomised controlled trials that will recruit participants from across the UK. You will be based at University Park.

You will be working on the delivery of two trials testing interventions designed to help pregnant women stop smoking, and will work closely with our group’s Trial Managers, Trial Coordinators, Research Administrators and the trials unit teams. You will be responsible for following up research participants to ensure high response rates and high-quality data is obtained for all studies, communicating with recruitment sites, plus a wide variety of other administrative tasks to support the team.

We have a team-orientated approach to the delivery of research projects, and you will be encouraged to contribute, as required, to other research studies being run by our group, depending on time available, and your interest, skills and experience.

You must have good general education including Maths and English GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), or a relevant vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ2 Administration with Secretarial Skills) or considerable equivalent experience of an office/administrative experience. You should have excellent interpersonal, organisational, and written and verbal communication skills, and good attention to detail. You must have successfully worked in a team and in a secretarial or administrative role, and preferably have experience of supporting research/clinical trials.

The position is available on a Fixed term basis for 1 year. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Our university is a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community. We welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs – indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus. We are delighted to share that we are the first university to have achieved Athena Swan Gold Award.

We want you to succeed in our recruitment process and have published Candidate Guidance for you to access information and support on application and interview process.

We offer a range of benefits, visit Your Benefits website to learn what we can offer you.

We welcome applications from UK, Europe and from across the globe and we want to make your transition to living in the UK as smooth as possible. Visit the Moving to Nottingham page to find out more.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Miranda Clark, miranda.clark@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
