Wolfson School of Mechanical Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering Full time, fixed term until 28 February 2025 An ambitious postdoctoral Research Associate is being sought to work on the development of a rapid and energy efficient laser processing technique for the Annealing of novel thin film photovoltaics. This project, in collaboration with Northumbria University seeks to enable a design led approach to photovoltaics manufacturing for a range of innovative applications. The project will therefore develop suitable models and associated hardware for the precise control of thermal Annealing of thin film materials. The Research Associate will work within a multi-disciplinary team and be expected to travel to academic partners for research visits. A PhD in a relevant engineering field (or equivalent experience) with relevant experience in laser systems is essential as are excellent communication skills and an ability to write technical papers. Applicants should have practical experience of experimental design and laboratory practice. Knowledge of sustainable manufacturing practices and life cycle assessment would also be advantageous.
