Job Description
Abcam, a leading life sciences company, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our Immunoassay Team at our location in Eugene, OR. As a Research Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and validation of antibodies for immunoassay applications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform documented methods required for immunoassay development, following established protocols and procedures
- Assist in the further validation of antibodies for immunoassay development, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results
- Maintain meticulous laboratory records, including experimental details, observations, and data
- Schedule and plan experimental work, organizing materials and ensuring efficient workflow
- Effectively communicate experimental details, both verbally and in technical reports and notes
- Perform data analysis of method validation experiments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of results
- Adhere to all safety and quality regulations, maintaining a safe and compliant laboratory environment
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of scientific equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Flexibility to perform other duties as required or assigned by the team
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology) or equivalent experience is required. Lab experience, whether through coursework or industry experience is preferred. Prior experience with immunoassay development and validation techniques is highly desirable, but not a requirement.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation is essential for this role. Effective verbal and written communication skills are crucial for communicating experimental details both verbally and in technical reports and notes. Applications like Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel), GraphPad, and SoftMax are extremely preferred.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team is important in this position. Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance practices is also necessary to ensure compliance with all safety and quality regulations.
Additionally, the position requires prolonged stints of standing/sitting, as well as displaying manual dexterity required to operate office and heavy lab equipment. The candidate must be able to lift 25 lbs. as part of their responsibilities.
