Research Degree Support Officer

We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated, well-organised and customer-focussed individual to contribute to the work of the Postgraduate Research Support Team in Research Services in supporting the progression and examination of postgraduate research students (PGRs).
You will take a proactive approach to your work and have excellent communication and information management skills. You will offer specialist advice and guidance to PGRs and University staff. You will work as part of a team supporting a group of faculties with primary responsibility for the Faculty of Science. Day-to-day tasks include:
• offering advice and guidance to students and staff
• maintaining accurate student records
• drafting correspondence
• dealing with a range of issues in a confidential and sensitive manner
You have a straightforward and appropriate communication style, a customer-focussed approach, an ability to understand and apply policies and procedures and to be able to advise students and staff accordingly.
An understanding of our postgraduate research student community would be an asset, but is not essential. A desire to make a positive contribution to the experience that postgraduate research students have here at Sheffield is essential. You have a can-do approach and enjoy a volume of work with constantly changing priorities. You will join a supportive team.
