We are offering a unique role to become the lead of Deloitte Northern Ireland’s Gi3 practice. Deloitte’s Gi3 tax services group, a market leader in helping clients secure incentives in both the UK and Republic of Ireland and the most experienced team across the islands, is seeking to build a significant local presence in Northern Ireland.

You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge across a wide range of areas and to help companies identify their R&D claims and incentives. This R&D role can involve activities such as data analysis, claim quantification, applying the appropriate tax principles, building client relationships, project management and business development across all sectors and different types of R&D and innovation.
About the team
Global Investment and Innovation Incentives (Gi3) are Deloitte’s leading experts in research and development (R&D) incentives. The team (which resides within the Tax department) helps companies that are on the cutting edge of science and technology to claim tax relief on costs that are incurred in carrying out R&D activities on a yearly basis. We advise our clients as how to identify the qualifying R&D projects that they are undertaking, help them to explain those projects in the context of the current state of the art and work with them to draft technical reports and financial calculations to align those projects to the legislative requirement of the R&D tax credit regime.
Our specialist team is an eclectic mix of science, technology, engineering, and financial professionals who work closely together in the provision of R&D tax credit claims for some of the most interesting and dynamic companies, from start-ups to some of the largest multinationals in the world.
We work collaboratively with our clients to prepare robust defendable claims, and ease the burden of the claim process, while continuously implementing best in class methodologies.
About the Role
As a Senior Manager you will be in a client-facing role from day one, the primary focus is in growing the Northern Ireland practice from a business development perspective. You will also be managing projects, preparing R&D claims, delegating, and building the team. You will be working with a variety of team members from junior to senior grades and will be the main point of contact for your clients, supported by a strong local tax team and your network of Gi3 professionals across the UK and Ireland.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Build eminence in the market and look for opportunities to grow the NI practice.
  • Lead projects, being the main point of contact with a range of senior stakeholders such as financial controllers, finance directors and chief finance officers.
  • Build an internal network within Deloitte and gain an understanding of the services the firm can offer to broaden client relationships and differentiate us in the market.
  • Work within a project team to ensure that robust R&D claims are prepared whilst building deep client relationships.
  • Be the primary point of contact for clients on other areas of grants and incentives, capital allowances and Patent box queries.
  • Preparing clear reports and summaries for submission to HMRC to explain how our clients R&D claims have been prepared.
  • Provide technical tax input into marketing and sales activity working closely with our STEM specialist.
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
  • Project managing a variety of projects at any given time and being able to delegate and work with the technical and finance team around you.
