About us
The Department of Space and Climate Physics, Mullard Space Science Laboratory (MSSL) is located on its own campus at Holmbury St Mary in the beautiful Surrey Hills, surrounded by woodland. The site is remote and not accessible by public transport. MSSL is the UK's largest university space research group. Space science is a discipline that demands highly innovative technologies and MSSL has an international reputation for excellence in this area. UCL was one of the first universities in the world to become involved in making scientific observations in space. Since MSSL was established in 1966, we have participated in over 40 satellite missions with the European Space Agency, NASA (US), Japan, Russia, China and India, and flown over 230 rocket experiments.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Department of Space and Climate Physics (Mullard Space Science Laboratory) at University College London to join a team working on Euclid. Euclid is the European Space Agency’s next space telescope, that launched in 2023, whose primary science objective is to determine the nature of dark energy using Weak Lensing and galaxy clustering measurements. This position is an opportunity to develop a key part of the Euclid Weak Lensing Cosmology analysis. UCL (Mullard Space Science Laboratory) leads the operations of Euclid visible instrument and co-leads the Euclid Weak Lensing science working group. UCL is also a member of LSST, and KiDS imaging surveys.
This post has funding until 31 March 2025.
