About The University
Swansea University is a research-led university that has been making a difference since 1920. The University community thrives on exploration and discovery and offers the right balance of excellent teaching and research, matched by an enviable quality of life.
Our stunning waterfront campuses and multicultural community make us a desirable workplace for colleagues from around the world. Our reward and benefits, and ways of working enable those who join us to have enriching careers, matched by an excellent work-life balance.
About The Role
The overarching aim of the research project is to collaboratively work with the industrial partner to develop competitive technology and scale-up solution. The focus will be on the characterization of the hard carbons in ½ and full cells including studies in multilayer pouch cells.
The post holder will work within the Energy Storage Group, which has recently benefitted from a large investment in research infrastructure and acquired state-of-the-art equipment for chemical synthesis, characterisation and electrode production for pouch/cylindrical cells. These include, among others, access to two powder diffractometers, SEM, TEM, XPS and Raman spectroscopy. Various electrochemical cells for in-situ and post-mortem analysis are also available, coupled with an extensive range of galvanostats/potentiostats for the detailed electrochemical and structural characterisation of electrodes. Equipment for studying the rheology of inks and the mechanical properties of fabricated electrodes will be used to complement the characterisation studies.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
The University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity in all its practices and activities. We aim to establish an inclusive environment and welcome diverse applications from the following protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin), religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation.
