Job description

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated researcher technician to evaluate immune cells in samples from pancreatic cancer patients. The project aims to characterise immune cells present in the blood and tissues of pancreatic cancer patients before, during and after chemotherapy treatment by flow/mass cytometry and immunohistochemistry. The project involves collection of PBMCs from blood from pancreatic cancer patients at different time points (before, during and after chemotherapy treatment) and analysis of immune cells by mass/flow cytometry and PLAYR assay. The project also involves the analysis of FFPE tissue samples by immunohistochemistry. The position requires experience in isolating PBMCs from blood samples and staining for flow and/or mass cytometry analysis and ideally also experience in staining FFPE tissues using immunohistochemistry. You will join a vibrant cancer research laboratory which is part of the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine, and the Institute of Systems, Molecular & Integrative Biology (ISMIB), University of Liverpool, UK. ISMIB offers a number of high-quality shared facilities, which will be used to complete the project. You will interact and collaborate with scientists and clinicians with diverse backgrounds inside and outside the department and take part in research activities that include cancer biology and the analysis of patient samples.  We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Research Technician to evaluate immune cells in blood samples from pancreatic cancer patients. The post is for 12 months at 1 FTE (could be extended upon availability of funding) and is anticipated to start on the 1 March 2024 and end on the 28 February 2025.
