Role overview

We are currently seeking an analyst and/ or researcher to join our Strategy and Insights team and support with the design and delivery of research and analytics projects as the basis for strategy development.

As an analyst and/ or researcher will work with strategists, senior strategists and account leads in the business to deliver transformative strategies and research for our clients, always keeping an eye on the wider the context in which our clients operate, and the wider societal impact of our work with them.

You will be responsible for helping the team build a robust evidence-base and interrogate multiple data sets to help uncover insights that will then used to inspire the development and delivery of strategies for our clients.

We will provide you with on-the-job training and (as needed) professional training in research, analytics or your chosen area of strategy. To give you an idea of training opportunities the team has received certifications from the MRS (Market Research Society), taken part in training with the APG (Account Planners Group), and we have also arranged specialised courses (e.g. brand strategy with Mark Pollard)

Primary responsibilities

  • Conducting secondary and primary research (focus on quantitative methods), media and social media analyses – and supporting with measurement projects (benchmarking and target development)

  • Contributing to strategy and creative briefs pulling through relevant proof points

  • Developing research hypotheses and designing research frameworks to help prove/ disprove hypotheses

  • Producing research/ analysis briefings summarising key results to support strategy development

  • Designing and delivering reports presenting the results of research/ analysis to senior stakeholders in the business and/ or to clients


Skills and experience

  • As an analyst and/ or researcher you will be comfortable with data, and really curious about the story it tells

  • You will be a critical and creative thinker

  • You will be familiar with a mix of software packages from Excel to Tableau, any mix accepted, but a minimum of two required to apply (yes, Google Spreadsheets counts)

  • As an analyst, you will have previously worked with platforms such as Brandwatch CR, NetBase Quid, Meltwater (Sysomos), Talkwalker, Google Analytics, AdWords, Adobe Analytics etc.

  • As a researcher, you will be familiar with quantitative methods, including experience scripting surveys (can be at university/ school), and analysing results (including cross tabs and ideally regression or multivariate analysis)

You will be reporting to one of our strategists or senior strategists, and you will have regular coaching catch ups with our strategy director.

We are a team of strategists with a deep passion for data and creativity and we sit at the heart of the business acting as a strategic planning function designed to empower and enable teams to unlock strategic and creative thinking - based on solid evidence, data-driven insights, and compelling narratives.

We work with the latest technologies, research methods, strategic frameworks, and tried and tested creative ideation models – and we routinely train the team and wider business to ensure we stay up to date with these.

We combine this with our teams’ specialist knowledge, sector and stakeholder intelligence to ensure we deliver transformative strategies for our clients.

We work with every team across corporate, advocacy/ public affairs and international relations, healthcare communication and market access, consumer and creative communications.

By joining S&I, you will gain experience across a wide set of clients and industries, with projects ranging from assessing differing attitudes to the climate crisis via social media analysis, exploring public perceptions and policy preparedness for electric vehicle introduction, or understanding the true impacts of the pandemic on patients suffering from different cancer types.

We support the Group across geographies too from London, Dublin, Brussels, Abu Dhabi and Dubai – and we work closely with our partners in the ecosystem and the Avenir Group.
