Residential Care Officer
Locum

Salary: £16.37 - £19.33 per hour.
Hours: No contracted hours, you can choose your own hours to work.

We are currently recruiting for multiple locum residential child care officers to join our dedicated residential staff teams working within our Children's residential houses to ensure our young people grow up feeling loved, safe and respected.

We have 8 Children's residential houses and a residential Through Care and After Care service within Edinburgh. The role of our residential child care officers is a key role for supporting, caring and upholding the rights of our young people.

Our Children's residential houses and Through Care and After Care service aim to provide positive, safe and nurturing experiences for all of our young people. Ensuring that a holistic person-centred care is at the forefront of our approach, respecting each young person’s individuality, we aim to support young people’s emotional and physical wellbeing.

Our residential staff teams connect with young people and families in a relational way with a trauma informed and responsive approach along with the principles of social pedagogy and PACE. The Promise underpins our approach and we aim to ensure that all of our young people feel valued, listened to and included.

Future positive outcomes are a crucial focus to supporting our young people and our dedicated team of residential child care officers are committed to ensuring our young people have the opportunity to grow and develop.

We are seeking child centred, resilient & motivated individuals to positively role model and support our young people. The successful candidates will have experience of supporting young people, and have a commitment to promoting children’s rights and advocating as well as having good communication and interpersonal skills, be reliable and adaptable with a clear focus on improving the outcomes for our young people.

You should have or be working towards completing SVQ Level 3/HNC or equivalent in Child Care/Social care or related area, or other relevant qualification at SCQF Level 7, or above. There is also a requirement to register with the Scottish Social services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of employment & under the relevant category.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
