Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a newly opened 3 bed EBD service in Wallasey as they require reliable and experienced support workers to support two young people with EBD and complex trauma. This is a long-term temporary role lasting for a minimum of 12 weeks with hours consisting of 9am - 9pm on a 3-on 3-off working pattern. This will lead to a permanent contract for the right individual.
Your new role
In your new role you will be supporting two young people aged 9 and 10 with complex EBD. The two young people within the service have recently been referred to the service, due to this they are still in the process of implementing a routine and can at times present challenging behaviours. These behaviours are not physical and are not a personal attack but more of a coping mechanism due to the previous trauma the young people have been subject to. You will build strong constructive relations with the young people as to promote positive behaviour, independence and self-esteem. Other duties will include but may not be limited to oberstavtions, meal preparation, behaviour management, emotional support, PBS, restraint, and working alongside social workers and colleagues.
What you\'ll need to succeed
In order to be successful with your application you need full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 6 months referenceable experience supporting children and young people in the last 2 years, as well as:
- Previous experience supporting or knowledge of EBD, challenging behaviours and/or trauma
- The ability to take a person centred approach to care
- A willingness to learn
