Retail and Logistics Manager - Brentford Football Club

  • £36,000 per annum

Overall Purpose of the Job
  • To lead the Retail department to deliver the operational efficiency, planning and presentation of the food and beverage offer at Brentford Community Stadium.
  • Ensuring that all standards are achieved.
  • Ensuring a seamless transition from football to rugby set up, delivery and vice versa.
  • To be responsible for achieving and where possible exceeding the sales budget whilst controlling related costs.

Key Responsibilities
OPERATIONS:
  • Ensure Levy Signatures are followed and maintain all relevant evidence
  • Post event files are checked and completed
  • Ensure all food, liquor and disposables are in correct areas in good time for match days and other events
  • Responsible for the non-matchday setup for matchday and make sure the retail areas in the stadium are ready for matchdays
  • Ordering, receiving and related admin tasks
  • Checking all concessions areas – critical walks, line and spot checks
  • Understand and support the ordering process and that delivery schedules are updated and orders placed in time
  • Drive top line / SPH – control production and wastage
  • Manage departmental maintenance log, ensuring resolutions are actioned
  • Be prepared to feedback all progress updates to the Operations Manage, General Manager and Regional Retail Manager
  • Understand and analyze COS, VPM, liquor yields to aid decision making
  • Actively maintain day to day contact with the venue client to enable the closest possible working relationships
  • Actively deal with customer feedback in a positive manner and advise the General Manager as appropriate
  • Display a positive guest attitude
  • Act with a sense of urgency
  • Solve operational issues / concerns in good time. Demonstrate proactive working practice
  • Lead by example
  • Ensure challenge 25 and RSA is strictly adhered to
  • Ensure the Retail team effectively uses suggestive and up selling techniques
  • Deliver effective, motivational and informative pre-shift briefing to managers
  • On event nights visit all Concessions units to check on team members, guests and discuss any questions and / or concerns
  • Attend training sessions and client meetings as required
  • Ensure that health, safety, hygiene rules and procedures are always followed as a priority
FINANCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Manage all aspects of labour scheduling and work closely with the HR and Staffing team to effectively manage labour spend and forecasting.
  • To manage and take ownership for all costs associated with the operations under your management
  • To ensure that your team understand all areas of financial performance
  • Manage all aspects of matchday labour scheduling
  • Investigate revenue shortfalls and cost overspend relating to financial results for the operations under your management and act where necessary
  • Drive spend per transaction values through maximizing the sales opportunities that occur within the planning and operations stages for the matchdays
  • Actively monitor and improve the operating standards within the Retails area including service, product lines and operational procedures
  • Demonstrate excellent control of all operating costs in line with set targets
  • Minimise operating costs by using all equipment and products in accordance with company requirements
  • Ensures compliance to the company profit protection procedures and that venue security procedures are strictly adhered to
  • Ensure all stock takes are completed to deadlines, with any variances investigated
  • Work within all budget restrictions
  • Actively make recommendations to the development of budgets and planning of future Capex / Opex

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
  • To build, lead and manage an effective team with clear succession and development plans
  • To hold regular meetings with your direct reports to ensure that communication flow is two way and that evidence of action is documented
  • To build a positive team morale through active communication with all managers, supervisors and team members
  • Staff training & development
  • Effectively communicate with all members of the team
  • Participate with recruitment, including interviewing. Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Conduct staff PDRs
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
  • To recommend and develop new products that reflect the current trends or provide an opportunity to improve the business
  • To recommend and develop new service styles and business opportunities that support growth of the business for both Levy & the client
  • To support and develop the company’s image and standing within the local and business community
MISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To organize own time off in conjunction with the Regional Manager and General Manager
  • To ensure that TOIL is taken within the period set by the company
  • To ensure that holidays are taken subject to the needs of the business and not carried forward
  • To always act as an ambassador for the company
  • To support with client with their wider initiatives / WITY criteria (related to catering)– including community engagement
