We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Reviews Officer to join our team in Haringey on a full-time temporary ongoing basis.
The post holder will provide a professional Reviews service, primarily on matters of suitability of accommodation and allocations (registrations).
This role requires in-depth knowledge of housing legislation .
This is a specialist role that works closely with homelessness, in compliance with the Council's obligations under the Housing Act 1996.
Requirements
- Previous experience as Reviews Officer is essential
- A good knowledge of Part 6 and Part 7 Housing Act 1996
- A good knowledge of key case law as it relates Part 6 & Part 7 Housing Act 1996
- A good knowledge of associated legislation, e.g.
EEA Regulations, Equality Act 2010, Children Act 2004, Landlord & Tenant Law, Welfare Benefits - Knowledge of the Review Regulation 2018
- Ability to listen, assimilate, negotiate and debate on complex and technical areas with other professionals.
- A good understanding of the way in which the work of the team supports the delivery of value for money.
- Ability to solve problems - to be flexible and adaptable and able to respond to situations creatively as they arise.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines
Role Expectations
- Conduct reviews under S202 of the Housing Act 1996 on matters of suitability of all forms of accommodation and matters relating to ending of the main duty due to refusal of temporary accommodation, part 6 or private rented accommodation or acceptance of part 6 or private rented accommodation
- Conduct allocations (registrations) reviews under S166A of the Housing Act 1996
- Supporting the Reviews Manager to carry out reviews, providing information, and working collaboratively on cases, where required
- Provide general support, guidance and assistance to staff dealing with temporary accommodation and interim accommodation, as well as settled accommodation in both the social housing sector and private sector
- Provide information to internal and external partners and respond to solicitors and Ombudsman as required
- Liaise with external partners, including local authorities, housing associations, support agencies, to facilitate housing solutions and ensure effective service delivery
- Maintain Records: Accurately record all interactions, assessments, and decisions in line with relevant policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and data protection guidelines are strictly followed
