Risk Manager
Job Description:
Our client, an established but growing firm in Edinburgh, is looking for a Risk Lead to join their team.
This senior level 2nd line of defence role will manage and own risk oversight procedures across multiple risk disciplines, along with performing risk assessments, and supporting the business with maintaining and embedding their Risk Framework.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Has several years' experience in a Risk role in UK Financial Services, and preferably in a FCA regulated firm
- Able to provide clear and consistent Risk advice and guidance to colleagues across a range of Risk disciplines
- Has a real passion to work within a far-reaching Risk role with lots of variety
- Open minded and interested in problem solving
- Analytical skills with a questioning mind, and willing to research alternatives when making decisions
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral skills
- Proactive and able to undertake multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage and carry out 2nd line Risk oversight procedures across multiple Risk disciplines
- Perform risk assessments to understand risk level, significance and scope across the business
- Challenge and support the business in increasing the maturity and embeddedness of the Risk Framework
- Continuously look to build and advise the business on efficiency and automation of Risk processes
- Work closely with the Compliance team in understanding the Compliance Risks and linkage to the overall Risk profile of the firm
- Evaluate policies and procedures to ensure they are fit for purpose
- Coordinate with internal teams to respond and resolve day to day Risk queries and issues
- Producing and ongoing development of Risk MI and Reporting for review by the CRO and Governance Committees
