Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Risk Officer will provide oversight and challenge across risk management activity across Reassured, in accordance with the Risk Management Framework, providing pragmatic and proportionate risk advice and support to the business. Working closely with the Chief Risk Officer to ensure efficient systems and controls are in place to manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Supporting our stakeholders in ensuring the implementation & compliance of Consumer duty requirements
• Support and provide advice on the execution of effective risk management to key stakeholders
• Ensure business incidents are raised, recorded, and managed appropriately
• Assist with the implementation of departmental Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA’s) across Reassured
• Working with key stakeholders to develop and improve risk management and the control environment
• Support the embedding and monitoring of risk appetite through ongoing engagement with key stakeholders
• Manage and maintain the Reassured Strategic Risk Register, including annual refresh of risks, risk appetite statements and Key Risk Indicators
• Continually reviewing and providing recommendation for enhancing our current Key Risk Indicators and risk reporting of our risk appetite position
• Provide oversight and support to the business on identification and management of emerging and inherent risk
• Assist in the delivery of risk management training and provide ongoing coaching for stakeholders across the business, providing continued support
• Provide risk expertise to key projects and change initiatives in an advisory capacity to ensure project risks are identified early and the control requirements are clearly specified and included as part of delivery
• Review and maintain key risk policies
• Develop a control methodology and test plan, with appropriate reporting of the Reassured’s control environment through the relevant risk reporting and governance forums
• Prepare risk reporting as and when required.

Qualifications

Knowledge


• In-depth technical knowledge of risk management and best practice
• In depth knowledge of implementing and embedding a Risk Management Framework.
 

Essential Skills
• Ability to diagnose and articulate material weaknesses and identify proportionate and pragmatic solutions
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, with the ability to influence at Senior Manager, Director and Exec Director level
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Awareness and understanding of operational, conduct and enterprise risk
• Ability to be able to provide proactive, pragmatic, and proportionate risk advice on inherent and emerging risk
• Ability to analyse data and make clear decisions
• Ability to build stakeholders relationships across all levels of the business, including Executive Management and Board members
• IT literate, especially with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Excellent time management and organisational skills to effectively to deliver on the needs of the business.


Essential Experience
• Previous experience (a minimum of 3 years) in a risk management role (first or second line of defence), or as a consultant, within the financial services industry
• Previous experience in implementing and embedding Risk Management Frameworks and supporting processes
• Previous experience in operational and conduct risk.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred
• Risk qualifications desirable, e.g., IRM or equivalent.
