Job description

An RTA Small Claims Handler is wanted for an excellent opportunity with a national, Legal 500 law firm in Manchester. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
My client is a highly regarded, award winning law firm with an excellent reputation in the market. Working for this forward thinking firm there is a pleasant working environment, excellent benefits along with dedicated training, opportunities for progression and development.
Due to a period of continued growth and expansion they are looking for a candidate who can effectively manage a portfolio of litigated Small Claims track files under the supervision and guidance of a team leader. The role will involve dealing with both quantum and liability Small Claims cases efficiently and proactively whilst utilising effective telephone negotiation techniques to obtain the appropriate settlement.
The role is a perfect opportunity for someone wanting to take their first steps in to Part 7 litigated file handling and begin to develop the skills required to manage a full Part 7 litigated caseload. Induction to role training will be provided along with continued on the job support and mentoring from a senior a fee earner.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Previous experience in an RTA file handling role
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads
  • Efficient in a process driven environment
  • Drive to achieve to take development opportunities when they arise with a positive attitude
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required
  • Confident with ability to take initiative to innovate and adapt to changing situations
  • Confidence to seek advice and guidance when dealing with new tasks
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instruction with attention to detail
  • Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required
  • Work effectively within a team. 

Required Soft Skills:
  • Established experience in law through further education or experience.
  • File handling experience within a law practice or Insurer.
  • Good understanding of the high way code and basic road traffic act principles.
