Job description

Safeguarding Adult Practice Consultant

Job Description

Permanent contract | £41,173 to £45,442 per annum (Scale K) | 37 hours per week | Vantage House

We offer a £2000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Social Workers/Occupational Therapists (grade J and above), Practice Consultants and Team Managers new to Norfolk County Council. Amount to be repaid in full should they leave within two years of employment.

Who Cares? We do.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2.5 suitably qualified (we may need to separate these out according to what hours we will have spare from Katy’s reduction?) Adult Social Care professionals to join the Safeguarding Adults’ Team. We are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working Practice Consultants who are passionate about safeguarding and are motivated to help develop this area of social work.

The team covers the whole of Norfolk and will require you to hold a complex safeguarding caseload whilst contributing towards the quality and development of the Safeguarding Adults process amongst the Social Care Community Engagement team and locality teams.

You will provide advice and support to locality and Hospital based Social Care staff and will have the opportunity to work closely with Service Providers; the Integrated Quality Service; Police and Health colleagues amongst others. Another key area of your role will be the assessing of staff who are completing their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) to ensure their competency in undertaking safeguarding enquiries.

Running alongside the case-holding and case consultation areas of this role are additional areas of work that the team are involved. These will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in more strategic decision groups and help you develop skills such as interpreting Departmental data reports to enable the team to improve practice quality. You will also take part in the development of the team’s guidance materials and the delivery of upskilling sessions to Adult Social Care staff.

The team, like any other Norfolk Adult Social Services’ social work staff, are classed as hybrid workers. Our key base is County Hall, Norwich as this is where the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub is based and other key colleagues such as Social Care Community Engagement Team. Whilst there will be some opportunity to work from other offices to improve locality engagement, and from home, we are wanting to increase the opportunity of working alongside each other at County Hall.

What we offer

At Norfolk County Council we are committed to our employees’ learning and development.  We offer all Social Workers and Occupational Therapists a protected half day per month for continuing professional development and training.

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people. Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.

We operate a talent pool scheme whereby candidates who are not successful on this occasion may be considered for a period of up to 3 months for equal positions.

You can also find out about the rewards and benefits we offer as well as our other terms and conditions.
