An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced nurse to join a dynamic and progressive Safeguarding Team at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals, NHS Trust. The successful applicant will provide specialist support within the Trust in line with local and National guidelines
The role involves Working closely with the Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Children , Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children, the wider Safeguarding Team and clinical teams to ensure that the Trust’s statutory responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and their families are fulfilled. The post holder will ensure that staff can access advice, supervision, support and training, in relation to Safeguarding Children in a timely manner. Promoting a positive culture of safeguarding within the Trust to ensure it is part of everyone’s everyday practice.
We are an integrated safeguarding team which includes children, adults, learning disability and Domestic abuse IDVA's. This supports with our Think Family safeguarding agenda.
- Provide specialist information, advice, supervision, training and support on safeguarding issues to staff at all levels within the organisation.
- Assist the Trust and staff in their duty to protect children and young people at risk from harm and abuse.
- Contribute to the on-going development of a robust strategy for the Safeguarding Team in response to the demonstrated need of the children and young people using the Trust services, and to the directives of national and local safeguarding initiatives.
- Liaising with Multi-agency partners
- To deliver formal safeguarding training sessions too specified staff on child protection and safeguarding issues.
- Assist the Lead Nurse Safeguarding Children in providing reports, Audits, Chronologies and Policy and guideline updates.
- Work collaboratively within the organisation, across agencies and with children and young people to form partnerships and working arrangements that promote safeguarding.
St Helier Hospital is home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, while Epsom Hospital is home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). Both Epsom and St Helier hospitals have Accident and Emergency departments (A&E) and Maternity services (Obstetrics).
