Safety And Environmental Protection Manager

Our client, a large government customer, are seeking a Safety and Environmental Protection Manager to join their team. The role is based in Bristol with some working from home. The role requires SC clearance and candidates must be sole UK nationals. 

Requirements are scheduled to run until 11/11/2024 (110 days) and offer a rate up to £530/day.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. Our client has indicated that they intend to operate the engagement as Inside IR35. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement. The rates above represent rate payable to the umbrella co.

The Role

To work within a multi-discipline Acquisition Safety and Environmental Protection (ASEP) team.  Operating as an effective MOD Safety and / or Environmental Protection engineer or providing support to Safety and Environmental Protection activities (i.e. the implementation of POSMS and POEMS, compliance with applicable military regulation and defence standards, DE&S aspects of the management of in-service capability).

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver against the overarching programme and established safety management plan.
• Produce Safety and Environmental artefacts to time and quality requirements.
• Operation of safety review meetings.

Essential Skills and Experience

Practitioner level experience (Plan creation and update) of:

• Defence Safety Management and Environmental Protection Planning.
• Safety and Environmental Management Plans.
• Safety Case / A Safety Case Report.
• Hazard Logs and Management of.
• Hazard identification and assessment.
• Weapons safety management.
• Defence Safety Management and Environmental Protection Planning.
• Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (OME) Safety Management.
• Defence Regulations. (DOSR)
• Through Life Safety Management.
• Defence Safety Management Systems.
• Safety Case Management and Reporting.
• Safety Legislation, Regulation, Conventions and defence policy.
• Compliance Management.
• Experienced in OME Safety.
• Able to lead on the safety aspects of the programme and be responsible for the delivery and maintenance of safety artefacts.
• Management. Practitioner level experience of DE&S safety management systems and processes (POSMS).
• Practitioner level experience of leading safety management tasks in DE&S.
• ITAR is required.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Working with WOC.
• Environmental management (POEMS).
• eCassandra.
• Fault and Event Tree (FTA / ETA).
• BowTie assessment.
• Safety arguments (CAE / GSN).
• Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulation and standards and defence policy.
• ASPIRE.
• ASSERT.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas cannot be accepted.
