Our client is an innovative sheet plant specialising in Flexo print and complex service offerings based in Hampshire. They are a leader in paper-based packaging, supplying market sectors such as Cosmetics, Pharmaceutical and FMCG. They have a proven track record in all areas of their business and are currently developing a new range of products to supply into new and existing markets.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, this role will form part of the company's sales team consisting of Business Development, Account Management, Internal Sales, and Design. The incumbent will both focus on new business development activity in some of the areas outlined together with taking on responsibility for some existing accounts.
This role will require the job holder in conjunction with the Sales Manager to create exciting new opportunities using solution/value-based selling and utilising the wide range of products that our client can offer to meet the new business requirements of the Sales Strategy and integrating these into the business on a regional and site level.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and agree with the Sales Manager a growth strategy focused on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and win new business prospects in accordance with this strategy.
- Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs.
- Monitor commercial performance of accounts to ensure that targets are achieved.
- Establish and develop relationships with new business prospects.
- Meet agreed targets for new business growth from selected customers.
- Understand the customer’s business model and processes to identify and promote new opportunities for our to add value to the customer via their products and services.
- Active involvement in marketing and promotional activities.
- Provide area report to ensure that all customer and competitor activities are brought to the management’s attention.
- Work in conjunction with and provide support as required to the Sales / Business Development / Account / Technical / Design functions.
- Follow agreed company procedures.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ideally educated to a degree level or previous experience in a customer facing sales role.
- Good commercial and technical awareness and the ability to develop their multi layered sales offering.
- Critical thinker, able to find solutions and solve problems.
- Good knowledge of customer sectors.
- Strong analytical skills to effectively produce reports.
- Ability to verbally communicate with a broad range of colleagues, confidently presenting data at all levels.
- Competent with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
- Good commercial acumen and awareness, with an understanding of the key business drivers.
- Solution driven with the ability to frequently come up with new and innovative ideas.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
